Proposed SW Prime Fare Increase:

The purpose of the proposed SW Prime fare increase is simple: SouthWest Transit is unable to afford maintaining the level of SW Prime service that currently exists. If the proposed fares are not approved by the SouthWest Transit Commission, the service will see reduced levels of service or operationally longer wait and travel times.

The current fare structure is as follows:

  • $4 per adult
  • $3 for children between 6 and 12 years old, accompanied by a paid adult
  • $1 for seniors, 65 and over, Mondays only
  • $1 for TAP users

The proposed fare structure is as follows:

  • Adult
    • $5.25 when using a GoTo card
    • $5.00 when using a credit card
    • $5.00 when using cash
  • Children between 6 and 12 years old, accompanied by a paid adult
    • $4.25 when using a GoTo card
    • $4.00 when using a credit card
    • $4.00 when using cash
  • Seniors, 65 and over, Mondays only from 9:00am to 3:00pm
    • $2.00 when using a credit card
    • $2.00 when using cash
  • TAP users
    • $2.50 when using cash only
    • Using a SWT issued TAP card only
  • Group Rides
    • $4.00 per person when using cash or a credit card, groups of 3 or more being picked up and dropped off at the same location

If approved by the SouthWest Transit Commission, the proposed SW Prime fare increase will go into effect Tuesday, September 3rd.

Public hearings will be held:

  1. July 16th at 12:00pm, SouthWest Station (13500 Technology Dr, Eden Prairie, MN)
